Empowering Young Coders through AI and CMS Innovation

Challenge Overview

This year’s hackathon focuses on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with content management systems (CMS), specifically using TYPO3, to build innovative solutions that can address local challenges and improve digital literacy among young coders.

Challenge Objective

The objective of the hackathon is to provide a platform for young coders to:

  1. Enhance their skills in AI and web development.

  2. Develop practical solutions using TYPO3 CMS combined with AI to address local issues.

  3. Promote multilingual technology applications, emphasizing solutions that utilize local languages such as Xhosa and Zulu.

  4. Foster collaboration, creativity, and innovation among participants to create meaningful digital tools and services for their communities.

Challenge Expectation

Participants are expected to:

  • Develop AI-powered modules or extensions within TYPO3 CMS that focus on language processing, translation, or localization.

  • Utilize AI’s capabilities to create tools that help local businesses or community organizations better engage with their audiences in multiple languages.

  • Innovate solutions that enhance access to digital resources and services for non-English speakers, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in technology.

Challenge Themes

  1. Multilingual Digital Content Management: Develop a TYPO3 CMS extension that integrates AI for translating content into local languages, improving accessibility and engagement for community websites and local businesses

  2. AI-driven Public Service Applications: Create applications using TYPO3 CMS and AI that can assist in municipal services like public announcements, local news dissemination, and educational content delivery in multiple languages.

  3. Inclusive Community Platforms: Design platforms on TYPO3 CMS that utilize AI for language translation, helping community groups and non-profits manage multilingual content and facilitate broader community participation and communication.

Who May Apply?

The hackathon is open to all young coders, students, and professionals passionate about technology and eager to make a difference in their communities. Participants can join as individuals or teams. Prior experience in AI, web development, or CMS is beneficial but not required; enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are the most important criteria.
